Warm welcome for Team Ford Racing in Argentina
It was a long haul getting the Team Ford Racing crew to Argentina yesterday, but everyone arrived safely and well prepared, ready to step into gear as Dakar Rally 2014 looms ever closer.
The crew spent today at Ford Argentina's Pacheco Plant in Buenos Aires unpacking the 6,5-tons of cargo that had been flown across from South Africa, comprising spares, tools, body panels and other essential equipment. While the energy-sapping 36-degree heat made it hard work for the crew, this was more than made up for by the extremely friendly and helpful local Ford staff.
The race engineers, car chiefs and mechanics set about fitting the Team Ford Racing Rangers with the remaining safety gear, conducting mechanical and electrical checks and doing the final preparations on the two race vehicles.
South African driver Chris Visser and co-driver Japie Badenhorst (#329) also used the opportunity to practice replacing a front driveshaft on the Ranger, addressing any issues they could potentially have during the race.
At the same time the rest of the sponsors decals were applied to the Rangers – because without the crucial backing and support of these companies and individuals the Dakar dream simply wouldn't have become an exciting reality.
Team Ford Racing, Neil Woolridge Motorsport and South Racing are proud to be associated with the following sponsors and partners for Dakar Rally 2014:
Michelin (tyres), DHL (courier and freight), Donaldson Filtration Systems (filters), OMP (racing equipment, clothing and accessories), DeWalt (power tools), Mastercraft (tools), Conlux Smart Energy Solutions (LED lighting) distributed by HP ElektroTechnik, National Luna (fridges), Ironman 4x4 (off-road and recovery equipment) and Optitech (sunglasses).
