Welcome the Giants of Dakar

The focus of the Team Ford Racing preparations literally took on gigantic proportions on New Year’s Eve in Buenos Aires as the giants of the Dakar Rally – the mighty trucks that compete in the event and fulfil the crucial support roles – were released from Port Euroamerica this morning after almost a month at sea.

The two MAN 6x6 26-ton assistance trucks, MAN 4x4 10-ton T4-class race truck and two specially prepared Ford Ranger crew vehicles were collected and driven to Ford’s Pacheco Plant.

Here the mountain of spares, tyres, tools, tents and myriad other essential equipment were loaded on the assistance trucks. In all, over 12 tons of cargo was strategically logged and packed, including a staggering 112 Michelin tyres and Evocorse rims.

The T4 race truck received its share of critical parts for the two Ford Racing Rangers while also undergoing mechanical preparation.

Eventually everyone returned to the team hotel to relax after two extremely busy days, and enjoy a well-earned multinational New Year’s Eve celebration.
